Visitor V belongs to Breuer-Weil’s series of monumental sculptures portraying a giant human being having crash-landed to earth, exploring the theme of “outsiders” who have arrived in one place from another, distant location or culture. The work interacts with the viewer: as most of the figure appears to be underground, the imagination builds an even larger human presence than that which is sculpted, and Breuer-Weil often explores the relationship between sculpture and the ground in riveting ways. This series has included Alien and Visitor II, previously installed at Chatsworth House (for Sotheby’s Beyond Limits), Grosvenor Square, Kings Cross and in private and museum collections worldwide.
