Brothers II
bronze
length 69 cm, height 20cm, width 11.5 cm
Monumental version (length 2.8 metres) currently on display in Portman Square, London
Breuer-Weil’s bronze Brothers II, exhibited with the James Hyman Gallery, features at this year’s Treasure House Sculpture Walk curated by Dr Melissa L Gustin, Curator of British Art at the Walker Art Gallery, National Museums Liverpool. The Sculpture Walk focuses on the theme of Disrupt/Connect.
Brothers is a theme Breuer-Weil has explored extensively in his work, working in different scales, from maquette to monumental (please see link: Video on Breuer-Weil’s sculptural process), including the monumental Brothers II (currently installed in Portman Square, London) and Brothers, previously installed in Marble Arch and St Pancras, London. The James Hyman Gallery specialising in Twentieth Century art, celebrated 25 years in 2024.
Breuer-Weil on Brothers II: “The two figures are brothers and partners. In Brothers II, although the figures are moving in different directions, they are connected through invisible bands that I make visible in the sculpture. My communicators, my brothers, are communicating in a very physical and intimate way”.
